Our BBBSEM internships provide a unique opportunity to gain knowledge of how a nonprofit agency works and operates, as well as tangible learning, knowledge and professional skills experience by working within different functions at our agency.
Role Summary
The Development Events Intern will work alongside the Fundraising Events team and be responsible for supporting the team in hitting its objectives. At the end of the internship, the Development Intern will have gained experience in areas such as in volunteer management, fundraising, event planning, and donor engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for accurate and up-to-date data entry for all event related lists and mailings. Must have the knowledge of Excel spreadsheet formatting and sorting in order to manage event databases and table assignments.
Lead solicitation for sponsor and auction donors.
Conduct event research regarding venues, vendors, event supplies, sponsorships, and donors.
General administrative duties including, but not limited to, arranging event insurance and payments, preparing agendas, preparing meeting minutes, calendaring, and preparing for meetings.
Producing nametags, tent cards, mailing labels, and other signage appropriate for the events.
Assist onsite event set-up, registration, logistical support, and clean-up on day of events.
Create E-communications and work with events team on creative elements using Canva.
Work with Operations to collect, analyze, and report out post-event data.
Support Events Associate with storage, usage, transporting, and display of materials in office and onsite at events.
Assist with other critical development initiatives of the department on an as needed basis.
Basic Qualifications
Availability to work at 30 flexible hours per week for the duration of the school semester.
Hours may sometimes include evenings and weekends
Must be capable and available to work from our Hyannis office in hybrid arrangement
Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service; sales or fundraising experience a plus
Excellent professional writing and oral communication skills
Excellent computer skills
Ability to successfully work independently and in a team environment
Enthusiasm, creativity, a positive sense of humor, and a “can do” attitude
Access to reliable transportation
